Early Years 1 (2-3 year-olds)

Early Years 1 (2 - 3 year olds)

Most of our places for 2 year olds are reserved for children who meet the criteria for a free place but we do offer paying places when we have enough room.

These sessions are charged at £6.50 per hour and your child must attend at least twice per week although we recommend a minimum of three sessions. This way,  children settle better and develop a rhythm to their week that gives them a sense of security..

To be eligible for a place you must get one of the following:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Universal Credit
  • tax credits and you have an annual income of under £16,190 before tax
  • the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • support through part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act
  • the Working Tax Credit 4-week run on (the payment you get when you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)

A child can also get free early education and childcare if any of the following apply:

  • they’re looked after by a local council
  • they have a current statement of special education needs (SEN) or an education, health and care (EHC) plan
  • they get Disability Living Allowance
  • they’ve left care under a special guardianship order, child arrangements order or adoption order

Nursery Places

Places in our Nursery School (Early Years 2) are offered to local children in the term after their 3rd birthday - in September, January or April - as long as there is space available.

Application may be made online and emailed to the nursery or come into the nursery for help with filling in the form. We welcome applications to join our waiting list once your child is two.

Session Times

Because of the pandemic, we are offering all children except those who are entitled to 30 hours, either morning or afternoon sessions. This is so that we can reduce the number of children having contact with each other. After every session, staff deep clean all the resources and most are swapped over between the morning and afternoon sessions.
Each group has a slightly different start time so we can stagger arrivals at the Nursery and avoid groups of adults congregating together. We ask everyone to be patient and give each other space leaving and entering the building. This seems to be working very well and we thank parents for their co-operation.

Paying places

If there is space in the nursery, it may be possible to pay for additional sessions to extend your child’s day.

Please ask at reception if you are interested.

Breakfast Club

Breakfast Club is run by our own, qualified staff. It starts at 8.00 am and is open to all children who are attending a morning session in the nursery, at a cost of £6.50 (Early Years 2). Children choose from a range of cereal, toast, fruit and milk.
